APAA Programs
GAPS

The Guest Artist Performance Series (GAPS) provides high-quality performance events with an emphasis on local talent and diversity of offerings.

These concerts are typically held at The Lyceum in Old Town Alexandria.

ENCORE

The ENCORE Series is a new and exciting outreach to Alexandria's elderly and retired citizens. ENCORE stands for ENtertainment Carried Out to the Retired and Elderly.

APAA works in cooperation with retirement facilities in presenting fine quality performing arts events in the facilities themselves, thereby removing the need to travel to a performing venue.

The ENCORE program was initiated by a generous bequest from the estate of Catherine Joan Cole.  Since that bequest, the program has received a number of lesser donations from a variety of sources.

Partner Organizations

APAA provides organizational and fiscal support to several start-up arts groups.  Current recipients of this support are:

  • Yockadot Poetics Theatre Project: A newly organized series of events featuring contemporary poetry and theatre.
  • Bosma Dance: A dance company widely recognized throughout the metropolitan area as highly talented and innovative.
  • Deviated Theater: Dance, theatrical lighting and effects, various visual arts, photojournalism, and more by Enoch Chan and Kimmie Dobb Chan.
  • STOCK: A new organization dedicated to supporting the theatre, orchestra, and choral programs at T. C. Williams High School.

Arts Education

APAA works with the Kennedy Center to provide opportunities for Alexandria youth to attend National Symphony events.
